Another Day on Earth (Pincushion) (2011)
Olivia Locher
How can something good be so bad? What you might initially think are candy sprinkles on the delicious dripping lolly turn out to be map-pins jabbed viciously into its surface. Olivia's photographs play with cravings and desires, attraction and repulsion. Her series Another Day on Earth considers a society driven by acquisition and consumption. It combines the visual language of advertising with a cheeky humour and darker, subtle violence.
