As social norms around gender change, new words filter into the mainstream. In 2019 “they” was the Merriam Webster Dictionary Word of the Year, highlighting our shifting use of language to describe our changing world.

Soofiya and Science Gallery London’s Young Leaders have chosen a selection of words that can express our relationships to gender. They invite you to discover new language and choose a word that sticks for you.
