THE SWARM
ELAINE WHITTAKER
HOW TASTY IS YOUR BLOOD?
From a distance the black flecks in this artwork are hard to decipher, but up close, the work allows for a long and painless encounter with hundreds of mosquitoes. We have all had to slap at a mosquito caught extracting our blood; an instinctive reaction to a tiny assailant at the centre of our continuous battle to eradicate blood-borne diseases such as malaria and Zika.
